4th of July!

We've had a ton of rain this year, so we weren't sure what to expect for the 4th. The fireworks show we were really excited about was on the 3rd,

and sure enough it poured all morning! It was a little further away, and we didn't want to get all the way there and have to turn around, so we skipped that one. We were very bummed. We found a local firework show to go to that night though, so it was ok. A little soggy, but ok. The morning of the 4th we went to the traditional ward pancake breakfast at the park until it started to rain again. After going home and waiting the rain out for awhile it started to get pretty warm, so we didn't waste any time and headed out to the pool. After swimming, (and naps) we went to another fireworks show. It was fun because we were there with friends, and we met another couple with a little boy that Jacey had fun playing with. The only downfall was the location. For some reason, only the edges of the field were mowed, so we had to hike into tall grass wearing shorts and foot flops to find a place to sit. We had a blanket to lay down, and camping chairs to put on the blanket, but I still was worrying about ticks and chiggers and all those other fun Texas bugs during the whole show as I watched crickets hopping all over on our blanket. Gross. We got eaten alive by mosquitos, but thankfully that was the extent of our bug bites. There are only a handful of things I won't miss about Texas when we leave, but that's definatly at the top of the list!
